An Edwardian display cabinet is a piece of furniture produced during the reign of King Edward VII (1901-1910), typically characterised by lighter proportions, refined timber framing, and glazed panels designed to showcase porcelain and curiosities.

These cabinets were primarily crafted from solid oak or mahogany, frequently featuring quarter-sawn oak veneers, hand-cut dovetail joints, glazed doors with timber astragals, and lined interiors.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate construction markers such as hand-cut joinery, old-growth timber grain patterns, original brass or iron hardware, and period glass showing minor imperfections or air bubbles.

It can be integrated into contemporary spaces to display curated collections of ceramics or glassware, contrasting period craftsmanship against minimalist architecture.

Maintain timber by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and applying high-quality beeswax periodically. Avoid placing the cabinet in direct sunlight or near heat sources to prevent wood splitting and fading.
