A rummer is a large, heavy drinking glass popular in Britain during the late 18th and 19th centuries, traditionally used for serving rum, wine, or beer.

These vessels were typically hand-blown from lead crystal and decorated using wheel-cutting, fluting, or diamond-point engraving techniques.

Authentic pieces often feature a heavy pontil mark on the base, minor surface wear consistent with age, irregularities typical of hand-blown glass, and a characteristic high-lead content ring.

Displaying historical glassware in open shelving, illuminated cabinets, or using them as functional vessels on a dining table adds texture, history, and sophistication to a modern space.

Antique glass should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive sponges, and dried carefully with a lint-free cloth.
