Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of Edwardian Sheraton Revival display cabinets stands in warm brown mahogany, decorated with profuse scrolling marquetry inlay in exotic satinwood. Each vitrine has a serpentine front with glazed upper sections, three lower drawers fitted with round metal pull handles, and stands on slender tapered legs. The interiors hold two glass shelves and feature a pale watermarked silk lining behind the glass doors, complemented by classical frieze ornamentation across the upper cornices. Measuring 183 cm high by 120 cm wide and 43 cm deep, these matched cabinets provide prominent display space for collections of glassware, porcelain or fine objects. They suit a formal drawing room, a grand dining room or an entrance hallway in a traditional English country house setting.

FAQs

Founded in London in 1845, Edwards & Roberts became premier cabinetmakers renowned for producing high-quality furniture, often adapting 18th-century designs with intricate marquetry and fine satinwood inlays.

These cabinets typically feature mahogany carcases decorated with marquetry inlays of exotic woods such as satinwood, rosewood, and tulipwood, complemented by hand-cut glass panes and brass hardware.

Authentic pieces frequently bear a stamped signature or metal badge reading Edwards & Roberts on drawer edges, along with superior marquetry detailing, precise dovetail joinery, and high-grade mahogany.

Place the pair symmetrically flanking a doorway, fireplace, or central wall feature in a formal drawing room or dining room to create balanced focal points housing curated porcelain or glass.

Keep cabinets away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent veneer lifting; dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically to nourish the timber.
