A four-glass mantel clock is a style of timekeeper featuring glass panels on all four sides housed within a brass or gilt frame, popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

These timepieces typically feature cast brass or gilt ormolu frames, bevelled glass panes, enamel dials with painted floral garlands, and mechanical brass movements.

Authentic pieces often exhibit hand-painted porcelain dials, mercurial or spring-driven brass movements with serial numbers, hand-cut bevelled glass, and patinated cast metalwork.

Placing the clock as a focal point on a flat surface such as a mantelpiece or side table allows its intricate metallic detailing to contrast effectively against modern minimalist backdrops.

Keep the movement away from direct sunlight and drafts, dust the glass and brass gently with a dry microfiber cloth, and have the mechanical movement professionally serviced every few years.
