Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. FAQs

A pier cabinet is a narrow, low-profile display or storage cupboard traditionally designed to fit against the wall space between two windows, known as the pier, during the Victorian era.

These pieces typically feature solid timber frames finished with highly figured walnut veneers, intricate marquetry or brass stringing inlay, and cast gilt-bronze or brass mounts, often assembled using traditional dovetail joints.

Authentic pieces usually display period-appropriate hand-cut dovetails, older glass with minor imperfections or bubbles, hand-carved or cast brass mounts, and natural timber shrinkage and patination consistent with age.

A traditional pier cabinet works effectively as a contrasting focal point in a modern living space, serving as a display case for curated ceramics, glassware, or books to add texture and historical depth.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels and keep the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking, applying occasional specialist beeswax polish to nourish the wood surface.
