The Regency period in glass production is characterised by heavy, thick-walled lead crystal, distinctive brilliant-cut geometric patterns, and sturdy stems often featuring knops or collars.

Anglo-Irish glass from this era was produced using high-clarity lead flint glass, which provided substantial weight, a resonant ring when tapped, and exceptional refractive qualities for diamond-cut designs.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit pontil scars on the underside of the foot, natural surface wear such as light scratches or base friction, variations in hand-cut patterns, and a greyish hue or high lead content brilliance.

Antique stemware can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, utilised on bar carts for a touch of historic contrast, or brought out during formal dining occasions to add tactile texture and heritage character.

Antique glassware should always be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and harsh abrasive sponges to protect the delicate surface and high-lead structure.
