E W Cousins and Son has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The frames to the serpentine glazed doors having double line stringing and double stringing to the door strip. These opening to two fixed shelves with double strung fronts. The side stiles decorated with inlaid trailing harebells. The top of the base inlaid with a central shell flanked by foliate scrolls and having double strung surround the square edge also having double stringing. The central secretaire drawer having inlaid urn with ribbon and harebell swags flanked by foliate scrolls having a banded surround and a pair of brass knob handles. The drawer front drops down to a leather lining and 6 satinwood fronted mahogany lined drawers with brass knobs flanking 3 pigeon holes. The side cupboards again inlaid with central urns surrounded by harebell and foliate scrolls within a double strung frame. The shaped sides inlaid with central stars with trailing harebells and ribbons with foliate scroll surround with double strung frame. The dividing stiles inlaid with trailing harebells the square moulding below having a double stringing. All on 6 square tapered legs, with trailing harebells and stringing, which splay out at the floor. These all joined by an undertier having double string to the top and sides.
