Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Glass panes should be cleaned using a soft microfibre cloth dampened with water, taking care to avoid dampening the surrounding timber. The mahogany frame requires regular dusting with a dry lint-free cloth and occasional application of clear beeswax polish to preserve the wood finish.

A large mahogany bookcase functions as an architectural anchor within a contemporary living room, dining space, or study. Placing a mix of books, ceramics, and framed artwork inside the glass cabinets creates a curated focal point that balances historical details with modern design.

Authentic period pieces exhibit evidence of historic craftsmanship, including irregular dovetail joints, hand-planed backboards, and natural surface patination around handles and keyholes. Original glass from the 18th and 19th centuries often displays minor air bubbles or subtle surface distortion.

These cabinets are constructed using dense hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, often featuring hand-cut joinery and solid brass hardware. The upper section contains glass panes set within slim timber glazing bars, while the lower structure provides panelled cupboards, drawers, or open shelving.

An astragal glazed breakfront bookcase is a large wooden cabinet featuring a central section that projects forward from the side wings, fitted with glass doors held by decorative wooden glazing bars known as astragals. Originating in 18th-century Britain, this style was designed to house book collections and display valuable decorative objects.
