~ French - Circa 1880 ~~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~A large and stunning original antique French Cartel Wall clock in finely gilded bronze. Elegantly designed in the Rococo style of Louis XV, it is formed of bold, scrolling acanthus mounted with upward scrolling flowers. Surmounted by a pierced arched arcade with a garland of leaves and flowers.The large dial is porcelain enamel on copper with its original foliate pierced and engraved hands made of gilt brass.The French movement is of high quality and is by Samuel Marti. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell.
