A Gilt Brass Repeater Carriage Clock by Mappin and Webb

1940 - 1960
Description

A mid 20th century gilt brass carriage clock retailed by Mappin and Webb, the corniche case with swing handle over a rectangular bevelled viewing glass to the jewelled platform escapement, with milled repeater button to the front, white enamel 2” (5 cm) dial with Roman numerals and outer minute track, blued steel Bréguet hands with the retailers name below. The eight day two train movement movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell, the backplate marked Fema London. English, circa 1960’s. Supplied with its original key.

Condition: Excellent; the gilding is rich in colour and does not appear ever to have been polished, the clock has been fully serviced and overhauled and is in full working condition.
