John Beazor Antiques is a family firm, established in 1875 and based in Cambridge since 1940. We are a traditional antiques shop, but very much in the 21st century. We deal in 18th and early 19th century furniture, barometers and clocks. We choose our stock for its originality and for the quality of its colour, patination and design.

We are members of the BADA. We do not exhibit at fairs preferring to deal from our Cambridge shop where we hold Open Weekends from time to time.

Open 9.00am – 5.00pm, Tuesday to Friday, 10.00am - 4.00pm on Saturday. A prior phone call or email before visiting is always a good idea and we are happy to be contacted outside of business hours.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Early nineteenth-century table cabinets were designed as compact tabletop storage units for personal correspondence, jewellery, or writing instruments. Influenced by Regency and Neoclassical design, these pieces feature structured geometric forms, fine leather coverings, and cast metal embellishments.

These pieces were typically constructed around a solid timber core wrapped in vegetable-tanned leather, adorned with stamped tooling. Exterior accents and functional hardware were executed in cast brass or gilded bronze.

Authentic period cabinets display hand-stamped tooling with minor character variations, period hand-cut joinery within the internal framing, and cast metal mounts showing historical surface oxidation and wear.

A Regency table cabinet functions as a focal accent on a contemporary sideboard, executive desk, or entryway console table. It offers structured storage for smaller desktop items while introducing historical texture into a modern space.

Leather surfaces require protection from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent drying, alongside light cleaning with a dry cloth or leather conservator compound. Brass mounts should be dusted gently without abrasive polishes to preserve original gilded surfaces.
