This George III hanging corner cupboard dates from 1800 and exhibits a warm brown mahogany timber with visible grain, light boxwood stringing inlay, and brass hardware components. The construction incorporates a swan-neck pediment decorated with brass rosettes, a central turned wooden urn finial, dogtooth and o.g. mouldings, a flared cross-veneered frieze, a panelled door with keyhole escutcheon, and matching inlaid side panels. The exterior shows minor surface wear consistent with age. Measuring 133.35 cm high, 83.8202 cm wide, and 48.2601 cm deep, the cabinet is designed to be wall-mounted in the corner of a dining room, hallway, or living space. It provides compact storage and display capability while utilising vertical corner space in a traditional domestic interior.

Originating during the reign of King George III in Britain, a hanging corner cupboard is a triangular storage cabinet designed to mount directly onto wall corners to maximize floor space.

Cabinetmakers commonly used solid mahogany frames, flame mahogany door veneers, and satinwood or boxwood stringing inlay, assembled with traditional hand-cut joinery.

Key indicators include hand-sawn backboards, original brass h-hinges or hand-forged hardware, hand-cut dovetails on interior framework, and natural age-related timber contraction.

Positioned in a dining space, hallway, or kitchen corner, these units offer architectural structure and storage without taking up floor space.

Clean surfaces with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish periodically, ensuring placement avoids direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber warping or veneer lifting.
