This Edwardian mantel clock exhibits a warm brown mahogany case with a lancet arch shape, raised upon small ball feet and fitted with brass drop handles to the sides. The front incorporates delicate satinwood marquetry inlay depicting a fruit basket suspended by ribbons and swags below the circular white enamel dial, which displays Arabic numerals behind a glass-covered brass bezel. Measuring 30 cm high, 19 cm wide, and 13 cm deep, the piece operates on an eight-day movement striking on the hour and half hour. Positioned on a mantelpiece, this clock serves as a practical timepiece and decorative accent in a gentleman's library, study, or living room. The woodwork shows subtle grain variations, while the dial retains its original hands and winding holes. Placed upon a wooden surface, the clock brings traditional character and structural symmetry to interior spaces while functioning as a reliable desk or shelf accessory.

A lancet clock features a case with a pointed arch top inspired by Gothic lancet architectural windows. Popular during the Edwardian era, these timepieces typically combine traditional mechanical movements with refined mahogany cases and decorative timber inlays.

These clocks are primarily constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, decorated with delicate satinwood or boxwood marquetry inlays. Additional components include cast brass feet, brass carrying handles, convex glass, and enamel or metal dials.

Authentic pieces exhibit precise wood joinery, hand-finished marquetry details, and natural timber patination around the casing. The mechanical movements often bear maker marks or serial numbers, accompanied by period-appropriate brass fittings and authentic age-related wear on the dial.

An antique clock works well as a focal point on a living room mantelpiece, bookshelf, or sideboard. Pairing dark wood cases with modern minimalist surroundings or traditional joinery creates a balanced contrast that highlights the craftsmanship of the item.

Keep the timber case away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or warping of the veneer. Dust the case with a soft cloth, apply microcrystalline wax occasionally for protection, and have the mechanical movement cleaned and lubricated by a professional horologist every five to seven years.
