Antique French Walnut Bedside Cabinet | Rouge Marble Top

Antique late 19th century French bedside cabinet in walnut, a charming and elegant piece of good quality in the Henri II style, showcasing fine craftsmanship and classic French design.

It has a single frieze drawer with a stop-fluted front and a brass knob, flanked by carved pyramid blocks, above a cupboard with a fall front door, also with a brass knob, opening to a useful storage compartment. Below is an open undertier shelf, perfect for books or a bedside lamp's bits and pieces.

The top is inset with its original moulded rouge marble, beautifully veined in red, grey and white. The cupboard is framed by fluted pilasters and the whole piece stands on four slender turned and fluted legs, joined by the undertier and finished with turned feet. The drawer is dovetailed and the sides are neatly panelled.

The walnut displays a lovely figured grain, particularly to the sides, and has a warm, rich colour and a soft patina that only comes with age.

Presented in good condition with some minor signs of age and use consistent with its age. A very desirable piece, perfect as a bedside table, lamp table or occasional cabinet in any bedroom, hallway or living room.
