Edwardian bedside cabinets, produced from roughly 1901 to 1910, are characterised by lighter proportions than Victorian predecessors, frequently incorporating classical motifs, fine line inlay, marquetry, and compact storage compartments.

Cabinets from this era were primarily constructed using solid hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or satinwood, often decorated with bone, mother-of-pearl, or contrasting wood inlays and brass hardware.

Authentic pieces generally display hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, period-correct brass fittings, authentic age-related patina, and hand-fitted door hinges rather than modern machine screws.

An antique cabinet can function as a nightstand alongside a upholstered bed, serve as an end table in a living room alcove, or act as a functional side storage unit in a hallway.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth, apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year, and keep the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage.
