This unusual pair of antique Victorian vases dates from 1880 in the Aesthetic Movement style. Formed from glazed ceramic earthenware, the pieces display a vibrant green colourway with naturalistic hand-painted polychrome details on the sculpted wading bird figures, textured grassy bases, and bamboo stem mouldings. One beak exhibits a small loss to the end. The vases stand 29 cm high, 13 cm wide, and 14 cm deep. Placed upon a mantelpiece or within a sunlit conservatory, these decorative vessels bring natural textures and sculptural form to an interior scheme. The ceramic surfaces catch the light, highlighting the modelled bamboo segments and the detailed plumage of the standing herons alongside the modelled bamboo tree sections.
