During the 1920s, cocktail cabinets became popular for entertaining, often styled with revival influences such as Louis XV curves, serpentine fronts, and detailed marquetry. These cabinets typically feature drop-front or cupboard storage designed to house glassware and spirits.

Cabinets of this period were frequently constructed using fine cabinet woods such as walnut, mahogany, and kingwood veneers. Decorative elements include floral marquetry inlays made from contrasting fruitwoods and gilt-bronze or brass ormolu mounts.

Authentic 1920s pieces display precise hand-cut veneer work, period-correct locks and hinges, and natural patination on the timber and brass fittings. Examining drawer construction, interior finish, and wear around handles helps verify age.

A serpentine cocktail cabinet serves as a focal point in a dining room, living area, or hallway. Positioning the piece against a neutral wall allows the intricate wood grain and inlaid detail to stand out while providing practical storage.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and polish periodically with natural beeswax to preserve the moisture of the timber. Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent veneer warping or colour fading.
