Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bracket clocks originated in the seventeenth century as weight-driven timepieces mounted on wall brackets to allow pendulum clearance. By the Victorian era, spring-driven movements allowed these clocks to sit independently on mantels, tables, and sideboards while retaining the traditional arched architectural silhouette.

High-grade bracket clocks from this period were typically housed in figure-veneered walnut, mahogany, or ebonised wood cases. The dials often combined cast brass plates, ornate corner spandrels, and silvered chapter rings with blued steel hands.

Authentic Lenzkirch clocks feature the makers trademark stamped directly into the solid brass movement plate, often showing a branch with leaves or Lenzkirch AUG alongside a serial number. The precision of the gear wheel cutting and the heavy quality of the cast brass dial mountings also signal genuine manufacture.

Position the clock as a focal point on a fireplace mantelpiece, a dark wood sideboard, or within a structured bookshelf arrangement. Pairing rich timber cases alongside modern ceramic vases or brass metalwork balances historical proportions with contemporary textures.

Keep the wood casing clean using a soft dry cloth, avoiding harsh liquid polishes near the movement. Mechanical clock movements require professional cleaning and lubrication every five to seven years to prevent wear on the brass bushings and steel pivots.
