Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this French Porcelain Mantel Clock to the 1870s.
The eight-day movement, which strikes hours and half-hours on a bell retains its original pendulum and works perfectly, having just been cleaned and overhauled. The movement and dial are both signed: T.A. Simpson of Regent Street, London….almost certainly the retailer. Height overall, including the good dome: 17ins; width: 11ins; depth: 7.5ins. Highly recommended. circa 1865-75.

T.A. SIMPSON (Goldsmiths and Jewellers) were retailers of fine luxury goods operating from 154 Regent Street, LONDON and 34, Rue de Rivoli, PARIS.
