Description:
Indeed, this pair of burr walnut nightstands boasts a lovely moulded frame, showcasing mirror-matched burr and figured walnut timbers on a solid carcass. Additionally, the vintage walnut bedside tables comprise flat tops, with a small upstand at the back. Below, two large working drawers surround a moulded, figured-walnut frame. Furthermore, dovetail joints secure the drawers, which still retain their original floral-carved drawer knobs. As a result, the drawers run smoothly and close flush to the frame. These Art Deco bedside chests also stand on an elegant, shaped plinth base. Moreover, these antique walnut bedside cabinets boast classic Art Deco styling throughout, visible in their rounded corners, clean lines and stepped design. Notably, Palatial Furniture, an English cabinetmaking company, crafted this pair, and the Art Deco bedside tables still retain their original aluminium company plaque inside one of the top drawers.
Condition Report:
This is a fine quality pair of antique English Art Deco bedside cabinets, featuring decorative mirror-matched burr walnut and two large drawers, circa 1930, and in excellent condition. Originally, these pieces served as pedestals from an Art Deco dressing table, and they have been adapted into bedside chests. Subsequently, our workshop team cleaned and hand French-polished the Art Deco bedside tables to a professional standard, so the finish remains in excellent condition. There are nominal old use marks to the leading edges, sides and inside the drawer bottoms, but nothing significant considering their age. Nevertheless, the drawers are well constructed, run freely, close flush to the frame, and retain their original carved drawer knobs. Overall, these Art Deco nightstands are well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
Consequently, these Art Deco bedside chests would look superb in a variety of rooms, whether in the living room as lamp stand tables or in the bedroom as bedside chests. Certainly, they would grace any home, whether in a traditional or contemporary setting, and they make a great investment thanks to their practicality.
