Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Pot cupboards, also known as bedside cupboards or nightstands, were originally designed in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to discreetly house chamber pots before indoor plumbing became standard. Over time, these pieces evolved into bedside storage tables for books, lighting, and personal items.

Georgian bedside cupboards were predominantly crafted from solid and veneered mahogany, favoured for its durability and rich grain. Accent details often incorporated boxwood or satinwood inlays, while interior linings typically utilised pine or oak with cast brass ironmongery.

Authentic period cupboards display hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, hand-planed back panels, and natural wood shrinkage along the grain over time. Original brass knobs or turn-latches will show subtle patination and wear consistent with age rather than uniform modern casting.

While originally intended for the bedroom, these compact cabinets function well as side tables in living spaces, standing beside armchairs or sofas. They also provide narrow storage in hallways or reading nooks to store smaller household items.

To preserve the finish, apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year using a soft cotton cloth, rubbing in the direction of the grain. Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources such as radiators to prevent warping, fading, or cracking.
