Fine Doulton Lambeth Intarsio Faience Vase By Alice Euphemia Thatcher C1880s

£395    $529    €463
A. Euphemia Thatcher (often listed as Alice Euphemia Thatcher) was a prominent artist and designer who worked at the Doulton Lambeth Art Pottery studio in London between 1879 and 1889. She is best known for her highly collectable Arts & Crafts and faience pottery, which typically features rich, hand-painted and tube-lined floral or foliate designs, as in this fabulous example on offer. Rare to find pieces by her these days, this wonderful example, standing 27 cm in height, features circular panels decorated with fruit and foliage, with floral decor in between. Possible historic repair to a small section of the neck lip, displays beautifully and is a wonderful addition to any serious collection. The upper section has a band of tree and heart-shaped symbols, very much an intarsio design.
