A fine pair of Royal Worcester blush ivory porcelain vases dating to 1900. The vases are of graceful amphora form with tall fluted necks, rounded bodies and pedestal feet, decorated with finely painted floral compositions and richly gilded ornament.The warm blush ivory ground provides an elegant setting for the decoration. Sunflowers, lilies, asters and wildflowers are painted in naturalistic colours with fine gilded outlines, showing the high standard of Royal Worcester hand-painted work at the turn of the twentieth century. The asymmetrical compositions reflect the influence of Art Nouveau and add movement and individuality to the pair.Particularly attractive are the gilt faun-mask handles with elongated scrolling terminals. Fluted ornament to the neck and base, together with gilded leaf decoration around the lower body, adds further refinement to the design.
