Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Nouveau glass from the late 19th and early 20th centuries is defined by organic, flowing lines inspired by nature, including botanical patterns, flora, and fauna. Designers often used innovative techniques such as acid etching, casing, and elaborate gilding to create fluid, sculptural vessels.

These pieces typically feature blown or cased lead glass decorated with hand-painted enamel and liquid gold leaf. The object was re-fired after enamel application to fuse the intricate decorative gilding permanently onto the glass surface.

Authentic period examples often feature distinctive ground-off pontil marks, raised raised enamelling, and hand-gilded signatures or monogram marks near the base. The weight, glass thickness, and natural wear patterns on the base rim also indicate age.

Position the vase as a standalone statement accent on a neutral mantlepiece, sideboard, or deep windowsill where light can illuminate the glass depth. Pair with sleek modern ceramics or dark wood surfaces to highlight the gilded metallic details.

Clean gently by hand using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, applying minimal pressure to gilded areas. Avoid soaking the item, using abrasive cloths, or exposing delicate enamelled glass to extreme temperature changes or dishwashers.
