Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cameo glass is a decorative glassmaking technique where multiple fused layers of differently coloured glass are carved or acid-etched to create relief designs. Prominent during the Art Nouveau period around the turn of the 20th century, French makers used this style to produce detailed organic forms and natural landscapes.

Pieces were created by blowing a core layer of glass and overlaying it with one or more additional coloured glass layers. Acid-resisting varnish was painted onto the surface in the desired pattern before the object was submerged in hydrofluoric acid, which dissolved the exposed glass to create atmospheric depth.

Authentic pieces generally feature relief signatures incorporated directly into the acid-etched design or cut into the glass body. Key indicators include high-quality depth in the etching, multi-layered colour tonal transitions, and smooth finishing around the rim and foot rim.

Display cameo glass where natural or directional light can pass through the vessel to illuminate the contrasting layers. Positioning the piece on a mantelpiece, console table, or deep window sill highlights the subtle tonal details within the glass.

Clean cameo glass gently using warm water and a small amount of mild liquid detergent, wiping with a soft lint-free cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive pads, or immersion in hot water, as sudden temperature fluctuations can cause thermal shock.
