An early 19th-century Georgian wine glass originates from England and dates to c1800 during the period of King George III. The piece is made from dark green lead glass and features vertical rib moulding on the drawn pointed round funnel bowl, with the ribs continuing down the short stem to a conical circular foot with a polished pontil. The glass has an excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restoration. Measuring 12 cm high, 6.8 cm wide, and 6.8 cm deep, the wine glass fits comfortably on a sideboard top in an English country house setting. The item brings period character to a dining room or display cabinet when used for table settings or as a decorative accent.

Georgian coloured glassware gained popularity during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, featuring deep metal tints such as green, cobalt, and amethyst. These pieces were hand-blown using lead glass formulations and frequently decorated with rib moulding or glass engraving.

These glasses were crafted from heavy lead glass infused with iron or copper oxides to produce green hues. Pattern-moulding techniques were employed where molten glass was blown into a dip mould to form vertical ribs before being worked by hand.

Authentic Georgian stemware frequently exhibits a snapped or ground pontil mark on the base, minor irregularities from hand-shaping, and age-appropriate friction wear on the underside of the foot rim.

Green Georgian glass provides colour contrast when displayed on open shelving, dressers, or window sills. Grouping coloured stemware on a dining table or cabinet allows light to pass through and highlight the vertical ribbing.

Wash antique glass by hand using tepid water and mild liquid soap, avoiding dishwashers completely. Prevent thermal shock by avoiding hot water and dry immediately with a soft lint-free cloth.
