Dating to the early eighteenth century when collections of Chinese porcelain or the tin glazed pottery alternative were a highly fashionable decorative statement, this handsome cabinet constructed from straight grained oak was in the foremost fashion. The finest of oak boards have been chosen and the low waisted proportions are elegant and well balanced. The shelves are scalloped and the slim glazing bars give a lightness to the piece.

There have been some restorations to the piece over time, the plinth and waist moulding are later replacements, and the pediment has had some restoration. the piece has acquired a good patina and the glass appears to be all original. This is a rare cabinet of desirable form and size.
