A handsome 17th century Charles II oak chest of drawers which has been adapted, standing on a later solid oak cupboard, in the 17th century style.
The chest- c.1680. The later cupboard, 19th century.
The four long graduating drawers are beautifully decorated to the front, having geometric mouldings, which have a different design to each drawer. The drawers are elm lined, using very thick timbers, all very heavy, solid and sturdy.
Retaining the original and very charming ornate, baroque handles and escutcheons, depicting baroque winged putti.
The hinged cupboard doors with brass bolt locks opens to reveal plenty of storage space, with an oak shelf. Decorated beautifully to the front with geometric mouldings and baroque style escutcheon.
A beautifully and cleverly adapted period chest of drawers, allowing for more storage space.
Rich colour and patina.
Standing on stile feet.
The chest separates from the top.
