A bracket clock is a portable tabletop or shelf clock that originated in the 17th century, originally designed to sit on a wall bracket to allow weight-driven movements to run.

Timepieces from this era typically feature wooden cases made from mahogany, walnut, or oak, combined with brass bezels, silvered dials, and glass face covers.

Authentic pieces often feature maker marks on the mechanical movement backplate, traditional wind-up arbours, and construction techniques characteristic of German clockmaking districts from the period.

Place the clock on a prominent mantelpiece, sideboard, or study bookshelf to act as a focal point, pairing it with complementary metallic or wood accents.

Keep the clock away from direct sunlight, extreme temperature fluctuations, and moisture, and have the internal mechanical movement serviced by a professional horologist every few years.
