Georgian glass decanters are serving vessels produced during the reigns of the British Kings George I through George IV, spanning from 1714 to 1830. They were primarily designed to hold and serve wine, spirits, and cordials at the dining table.

Authentic period decanters were crafted using lead crystal or potash glass, often shaped via free-blowing or mold-blowing techniques. Decoration typically involved hand-engraving, wheel-cutting, or the application of gilt enamelling.

Key indicators of authenticity include pontil marks on the base left by the manufacturing process, hand-ground glass stoppers that fit exclusively to their specific neck, and natural wear patterns such as base scratches and subtle glass imperfections.

These pieces function effectively as decorative objects on bar carts, sideboards, or open shelving, bringing historical texture and reflective glass surfaces to traditional and contemporary spaces alike.

Antique glass should be washed by hand using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding harsh scrubbing and sudden temperature changes. To prevent damage to original gilding or enamelling, avoid soaking the exterior surfaces.
