A Regency cut glass decanter stands as a practical and decorative table accessory from 1810. Originating from Anglo-Irish workshops, the hand-blown piece has a square body in clear glass with a blue-grey tinge, accompanied by an original flat mushroom stopper and a flared neck that sits slightly off-centre. Decoration includes wheel-cut starburst roundels, angled slice cutting across the shoulders, and vertical fluting down the corners, alongside a polished pontil mark on the base. The vessel measures 24 cm high, 8.5 cm wide, and 8.5 cm deep. In a modern home, this decanter suits placement on a sideboard top or drinks trolley to hold spirits or liqueurs during dinner parties and gatherings. The traditional form provides functional storage while adding period character to a dining room, living room, or home bar setting.

Georgian and Regency decanters, produced predominantly in Britain during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, are characterised by heavy lead crystal construction, wheel-cut panel decoration, and fitted stoppers designed to store and serve wine or spirits.

These decanters were typically mouth-blown using lead crystal glass, which provided clarity and weight. Craftsmen used rotating stone or iron wheels to cut geometric facets, starburst motifs, and fluting directly into the glass surface.

Authentic Georgian cut glass often features hand-cut decoration with subtle irregularities, a ground glass stopper joint matched specifically to the bottle neck, and a pontil mark on the base, which may be polished smooth or left unrefined.

An antique glass decanter can be styled atop a sideboard, integrated into a drinks tray on a coffee table, or displayed alongside period barware inside a glass cabinet to add light-reflecting texture.

Decanters should be washed by hand using warm water, mild liquid soap, and a soft cloth, avoiding dishwashers which cause glass clouding. Internal moisture must be fully dried using absorbent paper or specialised drying stands before inserting the stopper.
