Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Four-glass mantel clocks became prominent during the 19th century in France and Great Britain. Designed to showcase intricate horological engineering, these clocks feature glass panels on all four sides, allowing clear visibility of the movement, escapement, and pendulum.

These timepieces were typically constructed using gilt bronze (ormolu) or brass cases, bevelled glass panels, white enamel chapter rings, and steel or brass movement components, often featuring mercury-filled temperature-compensating pendulums.

Authentic pieces generally display fire-gilding (ormolu) with natural patination in recessed areas, hand-chased decorative casting, heavy bevelled glass, and authentic period movement features such as a Brocot escapement or mercury pendulum tubes.

An ornate gilt bronze clock functions as a focal centerpiece when placed on a minimalist fireplace mantelpiece, marble console table, or structured bookshelf, creating a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and contemporary decor.

Glass panels should be cleaned carefully using a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with glass cleaner, avoiding contact with the metal. Gilt bronze finishes must never be cleaned with abrasive polishes; dry dusting with a soft horsehair brush is recommended to preserve original gilding.
