Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

FAQs

Late 19th-century European furniture frequently drew inspiration from historical revivals, combining traditional craftsmanship with regional timber utilisation such as local fruitwoods.

Fruitwoods such as pear, apple, and cherry were traditionally utilized by regional cabinetmakers for their fine grain, warm colour, and excellent carving properties.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-cut dovetails in drawers, natural timber ageing, and tool marks consistent with historical hand-working techniques.

A fruitwood table can be integrated into modern spaces by pairing it with neutral walls and minimalist accessories to highlight the natural warmth and grain of the wood.

Preserve antique fruitwood by maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, and periodically applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the finish.
