Georgian Double Series Opaque Twist Wine Glass, Flute-moulded Ogee Bowl

This is a Georgian, English double series opaque twist stem wine glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1765.
 
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
 
 
The glass has an ogee-shaped bowl measuring 5.8 cm (2.3 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bottom half of the bowl is moulded with slightly wrythened finger fluting. The bowl sits on a double series opaque twist stem consisting of eleven white enamel ''cotton'' strands would around a central twist of two enamel cords. The stem ends in a conical foot which measures 7.5 cm (3 inches) in diameter. The glass is 15 cm (6 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There is a minute white inclusion (probably clinker) in the metal of the foot, dating from manufacture.
