This eighteenth century Georgian English wine glass is fashioned from clear lead glass with white enamel. The vessel comprises a rounded funnel shaped bowl featuring flute moulding to the lower third, supported by a single series opaque twist stem containing a tape twist, and terminates in a conical foot. Visible details include a rough pontil mark and age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot, along with a number of dealer or collector stickers on the underside. The piece stands 15.6 cm high. In a contemporary home, this glass provides a decorative element for display on a sideboard top in a dining room, living room, or hallway. The traditional craftsmanship fits well within an English country house interior style as a collectible antique glassware piece for enthusiasts of historical tavern or dining table accessories.

Opaque twist wine glasses were produced in Britain during the mid-to-late 18th century, approximately between 1755 and 1780. They are defined by internal white enamel threads trapped within a clear glass stem, created during the molten stage of manufacture.

Glassmakers arranged white enamel rods into a cylindrical mould, poured clear lead glass inside, heated the combined mass, and drew it out while twisting to form the spiral pattern within the stem before attaching the bowl and foot.

Authentic pieces exhibit characteristics of hand-blown production, including a snapped or polished pontil mark on the underside of the foot, slight asymmetry, age-appropriate wear rings around the base of the foot, and a distinct greyish tint indicative of historical lead glass formulations.

These items are commonly arranged inside glazed display cabinets, positioned on dining room sideboards, or styled on silver trays alongside modern barware to highlight their geometric stem details.

Hand wash gently in lukewarm water using mild detergent and soft cotton cloths. Avoid dishwashers and sudden temperature changes, as thermal shock can cause stress fractures in historic lead glass.
