Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A satinwood pedestal cabinet is a tall, narrow 19th-century storage piece crafted primarily from satinwood veneer, often featured in Victorian and Regency interiors. These cabinets typically feature a single door, a solid or marble top surface, and were historically used as pot cupboards, bedside stands, or display pedestals.

These cabinets were constructed using dense hardwoods such as oak or mahogany for the underlying carcass, overlaid with figured satinwood or walnut veneers. Tops were frequently fitted with thick inset or resting marble slabs to protect the timber from heat and moisture.

Authentic pieces feature natural timber grain variations, hand-cut dovetail or joinery construction inside drawers and backboards, hand-carved moulding accents, and genuine age-related patination. Original marble tops often show minor surface wear and hand-finished edge profiles.

In modern spaces, a pedestal cabinet works as an accent side table, an entryway display stand for ceramics or lamps, or a functional bedside storage unit. The warm golden tones of satinwood contrast well against neutral walls and modern upholstered furniture.

Dust timber regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year following the grain. Clean marble tops using a damp cloth and mild, pH-neutral soap, avoiding acidic liquids that can etch the stone surface.
