A fine single fusee timepiece dating from the beginning of Queen Victoria’s reign Circa 1840. The eight day movement with anchor escapement with a suspended pendulum bob with top adjustment, the pendulum using the full length of the case for better timekeeping.The ebonised case with canted corners and a stepped and chamfered top is in excellent original condition. The arched silvered roman dial is signed Phillips Bros, 31 COCKSPUR STREET, Haymarket LONDON behind a glazed arch door with silvered reveal. The sides having glazed panels framed with brass beading and a glazed back door. The Phillips Brothers were based at 31 Cockspur Street from 1839 until 1856.
