A lovely pair of 19th Century rosewood pedestal cabinets, nice figured rosewood tops, the front of the cabinets having carved patraes either side at the top, columns either side with beading running along in each column, the hinged door having a pleated silk panel at the centre opening to reveal a single shelf inside, supported on turned bun feet. Circa 1830.

Martlesham Antiques is a family run business and has been trading since 1984. Located in Suffolk just outside Woodbridge, Martlesham Antiques is run from a spacious thatched cottage housing nine large showrooms with a vast adjacent car park.

Specialising in 18th and 19th Century furniture, together with creating custom hand-made furniture which is supplied to various interior designers, trade and the retail market. Every piece on the showroom floor is in excellent condition and ready to go straight into the buyers home or premises.

All of Martlesham Antiques furniture is hand polished by their own French polishers and restorers to a very high standard. We are also a member of LAPADA, the association of art and antiques.

This pair of nineteenth-century pedestal cabinets dates from the William IV period and is formed from dark brown rosewood with pale cream pleated fabric panels. Each rectangular cabinet displays a hinged door framed by beaded columns and topped with carved corner rosettes, standing above turned bun feet with gadrooned moulding running along the lower and upper borders. The figured rosewood top sits above a single door containing a fabric panel at the centre, which opens to reveal an interior shelf. Measuring 90 cm high, 50 cm wide, and 33 cm deep, these versatile cabinets suit placement as bedside tables or end units in a living room, study, or hallway. The substantial timber construction and classical architectural detailing provide useful enclosed storage while maintaining a formal period aesthetic suitable for traditional or transitional interior schemes.
