The World is Made of Glass Ltd. has dated this Opaque Twist Wine Glass to the 18th Century.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
The glass has an ogee-shaped bowl measuring 5.1 cm (2 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bottom half of the bowl is moulded with finger fluting.
The stem ends in a conical foot which measures 7.2 cm (2.9 inches) in diameter. The glass is 15.3 cm (6.1 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There are some minute abrasions to the underside edge of the foot but no more than the normal wear and tear that should be seen on an original, unground foot. There is a minute white inclusion (probably clinker) in the metal of the bowl, just under the rim, dating from manufacture. There are two collectors' stickers attached to the foot.
Lead glass weighing in at 140 g. (~ 5 oz.).
