These Japanese Kutani porcelain vases are a stunning pair with the most beautiful hand enamelled decoration and a lovely colour palette.
The vases are Meiji period circa 1890 and are boldly decorated with typical ironstone borders and wonderful blooms of peonies and chrysanthemum growing behind an arched bamboo trellis.
They have characterful stylised frog handles to the tapering necks which are painted with ironstone roundels and pretty hanging floral detail.
The hand enamelling has been beautifully crafted by the artisan with great detail having raised designs and gilded highlights.
Overall in very good condition, some rubbing to the gilding and characterful crazing as to be expected. These measure 30 cms high by 13 cms in diameter.
The vases are both signed to the base by the the artist.
