A rare Japanese Kutani porcelain vase from the Kinrin Workshop, Kaga province, dating to circa 1890. The vase is of particularly elegant, scarce form, finely potted and hand-painted in iron red and gold enamels with traditional Kutani floral and bird motifs. Cloud-shaped cartouches feature Japanese landscapes and architecture, highlighted with fine gilding. The vase is marked to the base in red: (''Kaga no kuni, Kinrin sei'' – ''Made by Kinrin, Kaga province''), characteristic of export wares made for Western collectors at the end of the 19th century. The work of Kinrin is known for its delicate gilt detailing and refined decorative style, setting it apart from more commercial Kutani production.
