Gillers Antiques Ltd has dated this Antique Kutani Porcelain Vase to the 1890s.
Cloud-shaped cartouches feature Japanese landscapes and architecture, highlighted with fine gilding. The vase is marked to the base in red: ("Kaga no kuni, Kinrin sei" – "Made by Kinrin, Kaga province"), characteristic of export wares made for Western collectors at the end of the 19th century. The work of Kinrin is known for its delicate gilt detailing and refined decorative style, setting it apart from more commercial Kutani production. Comparable pieces are held in museum collections and have been offered at international auctions.
