An Edwardian music cabinet is a specialised piece of furniture designed during the early 20th century specifically for storing sheet music, scores, and musical accessories in domestic drawing rooms.

These cabinets were typically crafted from fine timbers such as mahogany, satinwood, or walnut, and featured intricate marquetry, parquetry, and boxwood stringing executed by skilled cabinet makers.

Authentic pieces often feature maker stamps or signatures, period-accurate brass hardware, hand-cut dovetail joints, and traditional finishes such as French polish rather than modern varnishes.

This piece can serve as a sophisticated bedside table, a compact hallway storage unit, or a distinctive accent piece in a living room, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern minimalist spaces.

Preservation involves keeping the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, dusting with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the polish.
