Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This late Victorian weather station stands 41 cm high, 66 cm wide, and 19 cm deep, designed for placement on a sideboard top in a gentleman's library or study. Constructed from warm brown oak with a glazed cabinet front, it houses multiple brass and silvered instruments. The left side holds a clock dial with Roman numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial, marked with James Brown Glasgow. In the centre sits a rotating paper recording drum and barograph, positioned directly above an integrated mercury thermometer. The right side features a round aneroid barometer dial. The rectangular timber case displays simple linear mouldings framing the glass panel, alongside brass hardware and small feet at the base, presenting a complete scientific collection from the nineteenth century.

A combination weather station is a multi-functional meteorological instrument set housed within a single cabinet, typically containing a barometer, thermometer, and clock, and occasionally a drum barograph for continuous atmospheric pressure tracking.

Victorian weather stations were predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, featuring bevelled glass panels, lacquered brass mechanical components, and silvered metal or porcelain instrument dials.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-engraved maker marks on the dial plates, original brass movement mountings, hand-cut dovetail joints on the wooden casing, and natural age-related oxidisation on metal surfaces.

Position the instrument on a flat, stable surface such as a library desk, mantelpiece, or console sideboard alongside understated dark wood or leather decor elements to accentuate its scientific aesthetic.

Keep the casing clean using a soft microfibre cloth and apply beeswax sparingly to the oak casing, while avoiding liquid cleaners near the internal brass movements and glass panels.
