This nineteenth-century tavern glass rummer is an example of English Country House glassware in the Georgian style. The piece is made of clear glass with a bucket-shaped bowl, a short plain stem, and a circular foot. The upper bowl has wheel-engraved decoration consisting of two pairs of parallel horizontal bands framing a central band of leaf motifs. The glass stands 15 cm high and measures 7 cm in diameter. Today, this piece suits placement on a sideboard top or a dining table in a traditional interior setting. It functions well for display as part of a glass collection or for table use during dining.

A rummer is a type of short-stemmed drinking glass with a large bucket-shaped or u-shaped bowl and a sturdy footed base, widely manufactured in Britain during the 18th and 19th centuries for serving wine, cider, ale, or spirits.

These glasses were traditionally free-blown or mold-blown from lead crystal or soda glass, after which decorative patterns, foliage, or lettering were applied to the surface using copper-wheel engraving techniques.

Authentic pieces usually exhibit minor irregularities in shape, small enclosed air bubbles, slight wear or friction marks on the base of the foot, and a snapped or ground pontil mark underneath.

Grouping antique glassware on a dining room sideboard, open kitchen shelving, or a drinks tray allows light to catch the engraved patterns, adding subtle texture and historical interest to modern spaces.

Hand wash antique glassware individually in lukewarm water using mild detergent and soft cloths, avoiding dishwashers or sudden water temperature changes that could cause thermal shock and cracking.
