Where inspection, testing, or servicing is required this process can take between 2–12 weeks depending on the clock, the work needed, and current workload. This careful approach helps ensure the clock is properly assessed rather than rushed.

Clock Warranty

All clocks purchased from London City Antiques are supplied with a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase.

This warranty covers mechanical faults and failures arising from normal use. It does not extend to damage resulting from improper handling, unauthorised tampering, accidental or physical damage, environmental factors (including humidity, temperature fluctuations, or exposure to direct sunlight), or misuse.

Should a clock develop a genuine fault within the warranty period that meets the above conditions, we will, at our discretion and at no cost to you, arrange for the repair or replacement of any defective parts. All remedial work will be carried out by a fully qualified and experienced horologist.

In the unlikely event that a fault cannot be satisfactorily resolved, a full refund will be offered.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Miniature longcase clocks from the Edwardian period are decorative tabletop timepieces styled after full-size grandfather clocks. They frequently integrate Rococo Revival design elements, such as ornate scrollwork, foliage motifs, and gilded finishes, reflecting early twentieth-century historical revival movements.

These clocks were typically constructed using cast brass or bronze, which was subsequently gilded or lacquered. Inlays often utilised real or imitation tortoiseshell, horn, or celluloid, paired with enamelled or porcelain dials decorated with hand-painted numbers and floral details.

Authentic period examples display cast brass construction with hand-finished assembly, original steel screws, and characteristic patination in recessed areas. Dials are commonly made of fired enamel or porcelain rather than modern printed paper or plastic.

A miniature gilded clock serves as a focal accent on a fireplace mantelpiece, bedside table, or writing desk. It balances well against dark wood furniture, modern minimalist shelving, or structured library displays.

Clean gilded metal surfaces using a dry, soft microfibre cloth to avoid removing delicate gilding or lacquer. Keep water and chemical polishes away from the enamel dial, and consult a qualified horologist for internal movement servicing.
