Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cranberry glass, also known as Gold Ruby glass, is a red glass craft achieved by adding gold salts or colloidal gold to molten glass. It gained immense popularity during the Victorian and Edwardian eras in Britain for decorative tableware, vases, and dressing table accessories.

Craftspeople introduce tiny amounts of gold chloride into a batch of molten glass, which produces a pale or yellow tint upon initial blowing that turns a rich cranberry red when reheated. Stoppers and lids were frequently hand-cut or faceted to complement hand-blown spherical bodies.

Authentic Edwardian pieces typically exhibit a finished pontil mark on the base, minor colour graduation within the glass, and hand-cut facets on stoppers rather than moulded seams. The shade ranges from soft pinkish-red to deep ruby depending on the exact gold concentration used during firing.

Cranberry glass pieces serve as striking accents on vanity units, open bathroom shelving, or window ledges where natural light can illuminate the coloured glass. Grouping varied heights of coloured glassware on a tray creates a warm focal point.

Wash carefully by hand using tepid water and mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes that could induce thermal shock or cracking. Dishwashers and abrasive cleaning pads must be avoided to prevent dulling or scratching the glass surface.
