We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A fusee dial clock is a traditional English timekeeping instrument utilising a conical brass pulley connected via a chain or gut line to equalise mainspring tension as it unwinds. Popular during the 19th and early 20th centuries, these clocks were widely deployed in public institutions, railway stations, and commercial offices for their reliable accuracy.

These clocks typically feature a solid mahogany or oak turned wooden surround, a brass bezel with flat or convex glass, and a painted sheet metal dial. The internal movement is constructed predominantly from cast brass plates and steel arbors powered by a heavy pendulum assembly.

Authentic examples feature heavy brass movement plates secured with tapered pins, cast brass bezels with functional hinges, and hand-painted Roman numerals on metal dials. Genuine pieces often display maker inscriptions referencing historic horologists and towns, along with natural mechanical wear around the winding aperture.

A fusee wall clock serves as a strong focal point when mounted on a neutral painted wall in a home office, hallway, or kitchen. Its understated circular geometry and rich wooden surround pair effectively with traditional wall panelling, dark academia decor, or industrial schemes.

Dust the wooden casing with a dry microfibre cloth and avoid using harsh chemical cleaners near the painted dial, which can degrade original hand-drawn lettering. Movements require periodic professional servicing, oiling, and level installation to ensure correct pendulum operation.
