Lantern Clock By Joseph Buckingham Of London With Verge Escapement. circa 1690.

A good, undamaged English ''Chamber'' or ''House'' clock.
 
The 30 hour duration, 2 train, chain driven movement with Verge escapement and short attached peardrop pendulum mounted to the rear. Countwheel striking the hours on the large top-mounted bell. Within the typical framed structure with iron back plate and probably original, opening and removable side doors.
 
Having 3 cast ''dolphin'' frets the front being engraved and the 6 1/2'' diameter silvered chapter ring having tall Roman hour numerals, an inner divided quarter hour track and Fleur-de-Lys half hour markings. Mounted upon the backplate that has scroll engraving to the centre and corners and the upper centre bearing the maker''s signature of ''Jo.s(eph) Buckingham. London''. The rear has the usual ''hoop and spikes fixings.
