Seventeenth-century Chinese porcelain is characterised by vibrant cobalt blue underglaze painting, often featuring intricate floral scrolls, landscapes, and figural motifs executed during the transitional and early Qing periods.

These pieces were crafted from high-fired petuntse and kaolin clay, glazed with transparent porcelain stone, and hand-painted using imported cobalt oxide pigments before firing in high-temperature kilns.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural signs of age such as iron spots in the glaze, subtle surface wear, hand-thrown potting irregularities, and underglaze blue tones that show depth rather than flat, modern printing.

Such an object serves as a focal point when placed atop a minimalist console table or displayed alongside modern neutral furnishings to highlight its classic silhouette and contrasting colour palette.

Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid using chemical cleaning agents or immersing porous historic bodies in water to prevent damage to the glaze and body.
