FAQs

The Georgian period spans the reigns of the four King Georges from 1714 to 1830, characterised by architectural proportions, classical symmetry, and the transition from walnut to mahogany as the primary timber.

Master craftsmen typically utilised dense tropical hardwoods like mahogany, often featuring flame or figured veneers on panelled doors, hand-cut dovetail joints, and secondary woods such as oak or pine internally.

Authenticity is verified by examining timber oxidisation, hand-forged iron or brass fixings, construction irregularities characteristic of hand tools, and period-appropriate joinery methods.

Pairing historical timber furniture with minimalist walls, neutral tones, and modern lighting creates a balanced focal point that highlights the rich grain and craftsmanship without overwhelming the space.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels away from direct heat sources and sunlight, and periodically nourish the timber using traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
